South East 4×4 Response mentioned for their work on Christmas Eve 2013 when storms swept across the county, affecting more than 600 properties, destroying businesses and ruining Christmas Day plans for many. Of the villages and towns affected by the floods, Yalding was hardest hit, with the River Medway bursting its’ banks twice in two months and hundreds of homes left without power or water.

Unpaid specialists from South East 4×4 Response were deployed across the county to help where possible. They were dispatched to help evacuate vulnerable persons from their houses whilst those who were trained using chainsaws were sent to clear roads of fallen trees and debris. The team worked day and night during this busy time to rescue stranded vehicles and help those who were cut off in their homes.
